You are not going to believe this. Just few minutes before Rachel ends her show I was saying to myself please bring Ed back. I thought I was going to write to MSNBC. Welcome back. You are one of the best in the business. I am very, very glad. This is my first time commenting, I have never done it at all to anyone in the news business, but I watch MSNBC a lot. Go Ed.

Ed, love you, buddy, but get off your high horse! You're not perfect either, notice your absence for the last two weeks. Anthony Weiner is a fearless fighter for the middle class and poor. Anthony Weiner has never gotten in front of his constituents and spouted his family values philosophy as so many others have. What he did was wrong, yes. What he did was very disappointing, yes. What others on both the left and right have done was wrong, yes. He has hurt himself in the process, but that does not change the fact that it is his personal life, he appears not to have done anything illegal. There will be an ethics investigation, and wait and see what they find, if anything but what Rep. Weiner has confessed to. The reason we can't stand the right is for their hypocrisy, not for their human flaws.

The question we should be asking what is Breitbart's occupation. A marriage destroyer, a career destroyer. There is not one that has never lied or sinned. Everyone has some secret to hide, there is not one human that is blameless. The only one offended by this is his wife and the whole think should be between them. Mr. Breitbart, apparently makes a living out of hacking and what the Bible calls gossiping and busy bodying around. I think that what ever comes from him should be ignored unless it is about a President who sends our young women and men to a war based on a lie and then laughs about it. Where was this guy when Bush was lying about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? He would serve the people better if he has a better definition of what real news mean. This is feeds the shallow people time that can be spent in other more worthy pursuits.

Did Bill Clinton resign? Is newt Gingrich running for President? Is Senator Vitter still a Senator? Why should Anthony Weiner resign? There are others I am sure screwing up even worse. He is a strong Rep. and when he speaks it is from the heart so he said he was sorry lets move on and please Ed dont do another whole 40 minutes on this subject.

Breitbatt violated Weiners right to Privacy by publishing the first photo and making a big deal out of it. Weiner was back into a corner and he should not have hedged his answers.

What I really worry about is if the extremists are going to start identifying anyone who doesn't stick to the missionary position. When does the invasion of our "bedrooms" end?

If every elected official that lied to the press and/or people resigned, there would be nobody left. CITY, STATE, COUNTY OR FEDERAL.

Nanette, I suppose you have never told a lie in your life. I don't like liars, but human nature sometimes causes us to do what we know is wrong to protect ourselves or those we love. There was only one person who walked the earth who was WITHOUT sin and that was Jesus. I think he once said those without sin cast the first stone. Unless I've missed something, Jesus has not made a second coming yet.

This is just a new "Playboy". Men have been cheating for years......This is just more personal. I still don't defend the guy.....it is just creepy. Sex secrets should not be kept from your wife or husband.....You made a commitment. As a congressmen he made a commitment. He is not trustworthy, democrat, republican, teabegger, or husband.

I agree with Edie--lets focus on what's important here. This press is not helping with the need to:

1. End bonuses and negative taxes for rich corporations;

2. Put Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security on a solid footing by bringing down medical costs which have increased too fast; eliminating waste and fraud where they occur; increasing contributions by all working Americans to fund the system into the future; moving to a public option for all to eliminate the profit factor by private health insurers that so drives up the costs.

3. Taxes will have to be increased on those making over $250k and serious legislation to bring manufacturing back to America so that unemployment goes back to minimal levels;

4. Government needs to invest now in the country's infrastructure--to provide a boost to the job market and to guarantee to investors that this country's roads, railroads, electrical system, etc. are such that America is the country of choice to locate their plants/businesses;

5. Campaign reform is urgently needed if America is to remain a democracy in anything but name. Curtail the power of wealty individuals, institutions, lobbies. Real and inclusive spending caps or using only public funds, whatever. Truth in advertising. Perhaps a system that critiques political advertising and exposes lies and distortion when it occurs.

Gosh, there is so much more--why are we spending so much time on a stupid example of "bad judgment"?

He can certainly can servive-but we're not them! He should resign & attempt to regain his seat in 2012 to regain his creditibility.

His terrible lie? When confronted, he denied, out of embarrassment, that he did naughty. Not illegal, not cruel, not evil, but naughty. His reaction was the same as the way 99.9% of us would react if caught doing something so adolescent and embarrassing. "Did you send a naughty picture?" "I did not." So, how did this harm the nation? Hundreds of thousands of people died because George W. Bush told a lie, but at no time did people show this kind of outrage! Where the hell is America's sense of proportion?

HOWEVER...let's allow for a real, honest fact finding of Weiner's use of office resources and /or "company" time..and if there is a substantial impact..by all means assess a fine or present him a "bill" which he should pay back. THAT'S TOTALLY "fine" by me (pun intended).

BUT, allowing someone with his articulate, passionate advocacy of REAL ISSUES that have REAL CONSEQUENCES for people other than his wife and himself..namely U and me...to leave office, would B a HORRIFIC MISTAKE with consequences I don't want to think about considering the TOXIC landscape (both literal and political) we R forced to navigate, due in NO SMALL PART to the concerted actions (both overt as well as covert) committed by the likes of radical GOP politicians (prostitutes) and their corporate pimps (the pharmaceutical industry, the petro-chemical industry, the 'health' insurance industry, tobacco, alcohol, banking, food processing and MANY OTHER industries).

BTW, if I were in the same league of someone like one of Bill Clinton's women, Weiner's women or Lawrence O'Donnell's guests, like Margaret Carlson or Jennifer Granholm, I'd B really busy texting, IMing and phone flirting.

Robert, I agree that the people we elect should not lie. However, how about politicians who scam to vote for them and when elected go straight against the wishes of the people. Take Wisconsin's governor, Ohio govenor, the Florida govenor who are destroying the people they represent. Now, I think it was a lot worse when Bush lied to the world about weapons of mass distruction that he knew was not true to get us into a war that killed and mamed thousands of Americans. Seems everyone was ok with those lies. Somehow, that seems much worse than making an unfortunate decision about a picture of his "assets".

Robert, The difference is that Vitter was breaking the law. Weiner was not. And Vitter lied every time he represented himself as a family values guy at the same time he was seeing prostitutes. Weiner never played the family values card. Nixon lied about matters that concerned his job as president of the United States - that would be treason. Weiner lied about tweeting a picture of his junk, and not even his naked junk - not exactly treasonous. Lying by politicians is inexcusable when they say things like the stimulus did not create any jobs then bragging about the jobs created in their state by stimulus money. Or almost anything that comes out of Michele Bachmann's mouth. Or WMD's in Iraq. Or saying wiretapping requires a warrant while wiretapping without a warrant. That is what we should be concerned about - not Anthony Weiner lying to cover his ass (or penis, as it were.)

Do you have C-SPAN? Do you watch the floor of the Senate and the House? Do you listen to what those people say on the floor of Congress? And you are worried about a lie that Anthony Weiner told on TV? Please.

That is opinion Ms. Joanne. Everybody is entitle to it, Republicans and Democrats. You are not entitled to lie to the public when confronted with the facts in order to cover up a wrongdoing. In some cases you are prosecuted for it. Ask Martha Stewart.

When it comes to getting caught with your pants down or your hand in the cookie jar it is human nature to lie at first. It only makes coming clean with the truth harder . There are some that will continue to lie even after they are caught red handed . Those are the ones that need to be forced to resign.

Nanci, are you going to tell me with a straight face that you have never lied, never made a bad decision or used poor judgement. My goodness, what does any of this have to do with his passion that he has done in his job over the years. Why are Americans so preoccupied with sex scandals when we have so many other serious problems that need our attention. I find it amazing that this has caused such a ruckus, imagine, a sex scandal where NO sex actually occurred. Really, are we so stupid as to let this take over the media instead of focusing on the real issues.
