Facebook co-founder renounces U.S. citizenship to avoid taxes - Tue, May 15, 2012YOUR BACK ED! I never understood why he didn't stick to taxing the rich.....and I think he needs to get tough and talk back to those Reps.
If he wants to get reelected he had better start letting the GOP no that we Americans are tired of their no,no,no,no,on everything that is needed to get the American people back to work. ED let Obama no that what he needs to do is bring it to the American people and let them no that the Republicans are more of a hindrince than a help in getting the people back to work. Remember President Obama if you get elected you can be the kind of President you want to be and not have to worry about getting elected .
G. Thomas I prefer to keep our country. Right, the greedy keep it all and lose America for everyone! G. you may have money but you are light years away from rich!! To heck with you and your money!! If having money is being like you screw that!! WATCH OUT G.! Here comes the eye of the needle!!
G. Then start showing it. You are not more important than our country. You will lose it all if we lose our country!! By the way, this country goes down and you are going to learn what being penalized is all about!!
G.Thomas
That's just your opinion. When the repubs take your benefits away and the stock market crashes from all them tax breaks, and you're broke, you will see just how important you really are.
G.Thomas is either a rep/tpartier paid blogger or one of those earning $18,000/yr and happy with it. In any event, the corps are sitting on billions and waiting for the POTUS to lose at the next election. Most voters don't understand that this is a strategy planted by the Big Boys to ensnare the American people, people like G.Thomas, who can't think of the coming years. Encourage all to contact their electeds in Congress, including repubs & tea partiers to get jobs, or theirs is on the line. Vote DEMOCRATIC in all elections.
G. Thomas,
Who is doing the whining? I am reading comments from people who are expressing their right to speak up for justice and humane policies for all - not just a selct group of financially powerful - and then I see comments like yours. "I prefer to keep my money please."
I hope you are never caught on a crumbling bridge that was allowed to fall into total and fatal disrepair because greater and greater tax cuts have meant that our infrastructure has bit the dust. Oh, wait, that has already been happening and tradgically poeple have died because of it.
G. Fine you want to keep everything you make??? Don't drive on our roads! don't send your kids to our schools! when your house is on fire, dont call the fire dept! when someone steals from you or breaks your face, don't call the police! and don't even think of stepping a sinlge foot on one of our state or federal parks!
G. Then start showing it. You are not more important than our country. You will lose it all if we lose our country!! By the way, this country goes down and you are going to learn what being penalized is all about!!
WHAT are you talking about?
G said he wants to keep the money he makes, not be taxed to give to others.
Since that is how our country has been FOR OVER 200 years, how in the world would it change now?
The ONLY reason this country will go down is if we keep Obama in the White House. He and his crazy liberal and socialist friends are bringing the country down. He keeps spending money with his crazy friends.
AND WHAT JOBS PROGRAMS? Most people know that businesses like to make money but they will NOT start any new enterprises when they have a skittish government who likes to spend their money at whim. Business is skittish around Obama because they don't know what will happen next.
Businesses don't like uncertainty. They like to mitigate risk. Obama and his friends are TOO RISKY to bank on.
Fine you want to keep everything you make??? Don't drive on our roads! don't send your kids to our schools! when your house is on fire, dont call the fire dept!
I WISH we spent our tax money on roads. WE DON'T. We pay to support a lot of LOAFERS and ILLEGAL ALIENS.
I don't have kids but I still want the kids that are in school TO BE TAUGHT IN ENGLISH. But no, my school district pays for textbooks in a whole bunch of languages. Can they master English first and then take a FOREIGN LANGUAGE in high school like everyone else?
I DON'T LIKE HOW OBAMA SPENDS MY MONEY. I CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL HE IS GONE.
He has gone too far. That national healthcare monstrosity RULED AS UNCONSTITUTIONAL IN A LAWSUIT BROUGHT BY 26 STATES (that's more than 1/2 the country) is bringing him down and he deserves it.
Not to mention, our currency keeps getting devalued and our unemployment rate is OVER 9%.
Thank you Ed, you are the only, ONLY, commentator talking about our real concerns and not the tabloid, soap-opera tripe that has been filling our airwaves for the past several months.
We need more like you ... perhaps O'Donnell and Mathews could take a page from your book ... that would be refreshing!
G. and karen,
since when have we fought two wars, the iraqi war an inessential war, as bush did, and not have our taxes raised to pay for those wars?
i am assuming you don't mind having your taxes raised to pay for war?
Suzette, Isn't it interesting that in WWll we sold war bonds and taxes were Not cut for the wealthiest and there really was shared sacrifice in this country. When G. talks about whiners, I can only say there is a huge difference between speaking up for justice and whining. The only ones who really seem to be whining are the self-centered people who seem to think that living in a society means everyone will have to sacrifice with the exception of a select few - those who think they are above paying any taxes I suppose. I wonder if he realizes we currently have one of the lowest tax rates that has been enjoyed in this country in a long time.
When Karen talks about the health care reform, I guess if she gets her way and it is repealed, we will once again go back to denying children with pre-existing conditions healthcare and allowing insurance companies to kick people out when they become sick. This current healthcare plam is not perfect, but it is a start.
I wonder how many who have jumped on the Tea Party (terrible twos mantre) of "Me First! Me First! I've got mine! Too bad for you! I Don't care it you have to work 3 or 4 jobs at minimum rage and still don't have or can't afford health insurance." have ever had to go on raising three children after the death of their husband from a terrilble and prolonged illness and then had to struggle to keep their family in a home, fed and clothed, educated and covered with health insurance. I have been there and done that and I would do it all again. I am not complaining nor whining but I am really tired of hearing those who have never walked in my shoes or apparently the shoes of others who are truly struggling and working hard everyday to do their best and are constantly being belittled and insulted by those who feel they deserve more respect that others just because they have managed to earn more or inherited their wealth.
There seems to be a terrible "Gospel of Greed" in our land and it is not only despicable but it is dangerously toxic for all, even the most greedy among us. A society is truly only as strong as it's weakest links and when those links begin to crumble in huge numbers everyone in society will ultimately be hurt. Even the wealthiest can fall prey to a crumbling society. It happened during the Great Depression and it can happen again. History has shown us over and over, if we care to pay attention, that we either pull together as a caring and united people or we will fall into a tatered remnant of a once great society.
i am assuming you don't mind having your taxes raised to pay for war?
I do actually. I want more joint efforts especially after watching a news story last night about newlyweds. The husband died in Afghanistan at the ripe old age of 25 after being married for about 6 months and a baby on the way.
When Karen talks about the health care reform, I guess if she gets her way and it is repealed, we will once again go back to denying children with pre-existing conditions healthcare and allowing insurance companies to kick people out when they become sick. This current healthcare plam is not perfect, but it is a start.
You are OFF BASE. I wanted insurers to offer AFFORDABLE health insurance TO ALL (NOT JUST CHILDREN WHICH IS DISCRIMINATORY) people with pre-existing conditions. THIS BILL ONLY COVERED CHILDREN AND THAT IS DISCRIMINATION.
Parents should have jobs with insurance and cover their children WITH PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS that way. And, if you don't have that kind of job, DON'T HAVE ANY KIDS.
I am also curious as to WHY YOUR FAMILY didn't have life insurance for your husband who left you with 3 kids after dying? I don't remember the amount of the policy but my family did and when my father died, he left life insurance policies for my mother.
Insurance IS NOT that expensive. It becomes expensive if you don't buy it when you should.
PS - I'm not the ONLY person against Obamacare. HALF THE COUNTRY'S states filed this action. I'm clearly in the majority on this issue.
Hey Karen,
First of all, the Health Care Plan, if you knew what your were talking about, by 2014 will cover all, including adults, with pre-existing conditions. The plan is being implemented in phases to help make the transistion. If you would look into it more you would know that.
You are a very judgemental person and I shouldn't take the time to respond to you any further but I will. I did have a job with insurance and I still paid dearly for that coverage as everyone in Florida has due to the corrupt relation between insurance companies and the Republican government of Florida. Oh, and by the way, my children were already young teens and the youngest was only 7 when her father died. He was a VP for a manufacturing company and our family was well established when he became ill. So LADY BACK OFF WHEN YOU SAY DON'T HAVE CHILDREN IF YOU DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF JOB!! You are displaying through your callus and insensitive remarks that YOU ARE A TRULY INHUMAN PERSON!
And, since you asked, he most certainly did have life insurance, which, of course helped, but it was still very challenging. Again you have not walked in my shoes, SO JUST BACK OFF! And while you are at - try growing a conscious. You are sadly lacking in one.
Oh, and one more thing you sound a lot like a paid hack who comes on here to try and leave misinformation for others to read. You are either that or sadly lacking in the ability to think like a real human being.
G Thomas, tell you what smart guy. Go down tommorrow, buy a brand new $70,000 Porche and THEN drive it to work and tell you boss you want a pay cut. That will give you a quick lesson in economics. George Bush started 2 wars, and if he had been in office this year we would have troops in Tripoli as well and all the while he was CUTTING REVENUES!! Off the chart spending and cutting revenues at the same time.
and now your a scientist. Climate change is called SEASONS? Are you really THAT ignorant? Look at the ice caps 30 years ago and look at them now. You dont NEED a brain, just eyes to see the difference. Combine this with airborne pollutants to keep the heat in and we have a big problem. Look around at the planet you have to live on, that your children and grandchildren have to live on and you can SEE what is happening. Even a dog will get out of the way of a spéeding car. And please explain what a "silly environmentas WACO program is". What does Waco have to do with the environment?
What you buddy GW did was remove all restrictions from ALL big businesses, Wall Street, the oil industry and all the rest. Then they did what they do EVERY TIME a Republican president does that. The trashed economy we have now is 100% in the lap of GW and his cronies-he took office with a budget surplus and in 8 years were were in 2 wars, paying $4 a gallon gas, couldnt get health insurance or send out kids to school, and the entire world though we were insane.
Dude, they need to pass a law to stop people like you from breeding.
Ann4 remember Reublipukes have a slaves must serve mentality. Slaves being anyone making less money or not as fortunate as they skin color included. The Republipuke middle class dont care if they have less as long as they are ahead of minorities which they consider their slaves. We as Democrats and Independents have got to break this way of thinking because it is Un-American and Un-constitutional. It is not only trickle down economics but it is also trickle down ethics as well and the top have turned off the faucet because they have gotten greedy.
To Carlo Caraluzzo and Louis,
Thank you for your posts! I find people who advocate for the things that G. does to be not only alarming, but also that kind of thinking is both ignorant as well as extremely dangerous for the future of our country.
You know I always thought that the true definition of responsiblity was working hard and being committed to your family and country - that America was a place where we all pitched in and worked toward the better good for all. I sure hope that is still the correct definition for responsiblity and that it does not now mean, as some would seem to imply, making as much money as one can and avoiding contributing anything to the common good of society. I don't know, but I call that both the definition of Major Greed and Irresponsiblity.
I feel I need to say something else here. I in no way want to see anyone in any economic class taxed to intolerable limits. I know people in all economic groups, and they all work hard for what they have, whether that is more or less in terms of income. And I have found that most people in all groups tend to be caring giving people, whether they can financially give more in terms of money or more in terms of donating time and effort to different needs in this country. I guess my point is this - there are patriotic Americans in all economic groups in this land and I am so tired of the comments of a few very thoughtless and, I say again, greedy sounding people, who will demonize those who make less (even though they are working so hard - some even at 2 or 3 jobs) and talking about them as if they are irresponsible losers, simply because they are not making more money.
These hard working people, the Middle Class and, yes, the working poor, have always been the backbone of this country and when they are crushed, this country will crumble. So goes the Middle Class - So goes this country.
To get back to the point of the intial question posed, should the President push back harder when it comes to Republicans blocking jobs bills? ABSOLUTELY! I would love to hear President Obama say publicly and often.......
"Where, my Republican friends, where are the Jobs bills? Before the 2010 election, we continued to hear you (the Republicans) say, "Where Are the Jobs? Where Are the Jobs?" while, I might add, you consistantly filibustered our efforts to help create them. Though you continued to demand to know "Where Are the Jobs, upon securing the majority in the house you developed a form of amnesia and forgot your commitment toward helping to create a jobs growth environment and instead preceded to attack the programs that have contributed to the health and well being of average Americans, especially the elderly, the disabled, the children and the healthcare of poor women and even men. As President, I say, this is not a Path to Prosperity, but rather a Path to Destruction! I am committed to working on creating a deficit reducing budget- one that is fair and responsible and does not in any way dismantle our important safety net programs, but revenue must and will be increased. We will do this in many ways among them ending the Bush tax cuts, ceasing the payment of huge subsidies to Big Oil, closing lopholes that have allowed major corporations to avoid paying any taxes and, just as important, creating jobs! That said, I want to see - in short order - jobs plans on my desk! In the short and long run it is job creation which will help to improve our economic future and lower our deficit. So to the Republicans in congress, I say again, you said, "Where are the Jobs?" and I say to you, we have been creating jobs - but we could use your help. Where Are your Jobs Bills?
Good Ann4 and think about it. I dont condone drug dealing but a drug dealer makes a lot of money but a drug dealer contributes to the economy. These rich corporations in my view are worse than drug dealers for they contribute nothing .
G.Thomas if you drove a Porsche you would know how to spell it. You drive a porche allright you dont get off the porch. Yes and back then people like you were claiming the world was flat and if you went to close to the edge you would be eaten by a serpent.
Off to a great start tonight! Now theres the Ed we've been missing!
Create Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs....When people work, they spend money, that is how you build the economy.
I am just speaking for myself, but I cannot spend any more money on things that are not an absolute necessity. We have to pay for my daughter's college education. Also, we want to open our own business. I have run out of space in my home and really don't need anything other than food and clothing. This recession is more the product of the business cycle. People have run huge amounts of personal debt and many just can't spend any more money.
I was trying to say that if we had jobs....we could spend money.....and the economy would improve so you could spend money too. I'm only spending mine to send my Grandson to school, and the basics, myself.
I so agree ... I think what is being said here is that ... if more people had jobs, there would be more money flowing into the economy. People not working have no discretionary dollars in their budgets ... the only way to boost the overall economy is to have the majority of people working. And while we DO HAVE the majority of people working ... don't forget: 91% are still working ... we have enough people unemployed at this moment to create a worry.
These companies with trillions of dollars at their disposal who claim they have no confidence need to get some patriotic guts and take a few risks. Since their PROFITS are still climbing and they have found enough loop-holes to prevent their having to pay taxes (talk about unpatriotic!), they surely could get creative and take a few risks ... those at the bottom, with no back-up whatsoever, are taking risks every day.
Sunspot, thank you! You have nailed it in my opinion. Thank you and Thankful Mom too, for your very thoughtful comments.
Sunspot, it's a little sadder than a "91% are still working". The unemployment rate just counts those who are on unemployment and/or are still actively looking for work. In some cities the unemployment rate is double. Some of us, happy to continue working at any age have been sidelined as "too old" and have had to opt for early social security.
And do not forget that you must multiply an unemployment percentage figure by 2 to accurately reflect the unemployment in the African American community.
Yes, RBW, I completely agree with your statement. Forgive my using a rather crude "shorthand" in order to make my point.
Thanks for the more complete explanation. I have great concern for those trying to make it in the present circumstances ... and there are far too many dealing with this burden.
Corporations and rethuglicans do not want Americans going back to work. They're fraudulent attempts are GARBAGE! Why do rethugs continue to support the monopolies that large corporations have? Why do they continue to PRIVATIZE THE PROFITS AND SOCILAIZE THE LOSSES?
Rethuglicans are LIARS and ECONOMIC TRAITORS!
When is comes to our country, we must think about our people, rich and poor, small and great, white and black, young and old, no matter what party. What happens now? Corporations which do not belong to any of the sets which comprise the American people, have now more power. There is also a touch of corruption and bribing (that is what lobbying is, a form of bribing). During the Bush adm. we lost 43,000 industries. They moved overseas with our tax dollars in the form of subsidies. Those subsidies are not coming back to us in the form of tax revenue. In other words those companies took the money and the jobs (15 million ) and ran out of this country. Their share holders and CEOs have a very large bottom line every quarter and still do not want to pay their share of taxes.
43,000 factories bro, 43,000 factories! Subsidies are what BIG OIL GETS and what RETHUGS VOTE TO MAKE SURE THEY KEEP GETTING!
Almost all, 99%, have signed Norquist's Pledge to not raise taxes. Imagine that. They'll listen to some nudnick and stick it to their constituents. They campaign on empty promises; lie through their teeth to get votes. Or they double speak, which is lying in a repub/tpartier fashion.
Save your sanity and skip the repub/tpartier rhetoric, mailings and phone calls. If you don't have the time you can always be safe with a DEMOCRATIC candidate. They're on our side, the middle class.
My question is simple and i mean this in the authoritative sense: Just who is Grover Norquist?? I don't recognize his authority as a single entity to control how our elected officials vote. After all, I thought this was a Democracy. Point is though seeing who Norquist is and the fact that pretty much all Republithugs signed his "pledge" (well call it auto neutering for the simple minded) to not raise taxes, why are "fiscally responsible conservatives" crying "socialism" against President Obama, when they're letting Norquist DICTATE to the same elected officials who keep using the constitution ( which they don't even know) to attack Obama? Anyone?
Whenever I think of Trolls, that ugly little Grover Norquist comes to mind. Unamerican loser.
While the Republicans welcome with open arms those who commit gross sin against the house and their own families and the American people, The Democrats seem not enjoy the fighting for those who need it the most. For one, there are some in congress who say they are Democrats/liberal but they are not. It is happening already in the state level (Wisconsin) and they are not afraid of admitting it. They run as Democrats and when they get elected they vote with the Repubs. on everything. Is there anything that repubs. find to be sacred or untouchable. Oops! I know the tax cuts for the rich, the subsidies and the Military Industrial Complex.
I wonder if there was a war and no one show up to fight it, will the Repubs. co bankrupt. Or will they ever forget their greediness at least once by mistake?
Great post afrommi.....
if theres one thing I learned this week, its that FAR too FEW dems are REAL fighters for the people who graced them with their current office.
Oh, they'll fight with each other, and surely some will kick their own when they're down. But take a fight straight to the republicans? ooh... too scarey.
President Obama is a great man. His challenge is his fellow democrats need to shout louder and stand right behind him.
One of the things I like about him is his cool laid back thinking.....But he needs to learn to be mean and polite at the same time. Even ole Joe has held his own in the last couple of weeks.
You have not been watching. He has not use a telepromter in a long time. I am yet to see a Repub. who really is fighting for the people. They are fighting for the tax cuts for the wealthy. They are not fighting for jobs because their agenda has been to "make sure president Obama fails". In their own words. To make sure he does not get any funding for his job's programs is part of that agenda. If you believe your leaders you are being brainwashed.
Who cares if he uses a teleprompter. That's a real solution G. Thomas for solving the jobs problems. You Republicans are a joke. You have nothing, nothing, but dogging others, doom and gloom. Is that YOUR America?
I love Politics (politicalwatcher) will you ever manage to stay on topic? Ever?
@G.Thomas, you should pay more attention, most politicians and public speakers use notes or teleprompter because it helps maintain eye contact with the audience.
Hell yeah, the President needs to get tougher and fight harder on all the issues.Republicans need to be harder on their fellow Republicans that block jobs programs. Obama needs to be more like Bush and pass his policies no matter what anyone thinks and face the music latter. They did it on the Obama health care policy. He took a lot of heat but thats what the job is about. FDR took alot of heat on social security, LBJ took a lot of heat on food stamps. It is time to quit trying to make the GOP happy for that is impossible because Obama cannot change his color and that is really all they have against him and his policies.
G.T.
I think you are showing your true colors. She was referring to an Afro-American woman finally breaking the discrimination barrier and being First Lady as well as her husband being the first bi-racial POTUS,and the new DADT policy as well as new crossroads in gay marriage bans.If people of color feel good for the first time in their lives for someone like them accomplishing the impossible dream, then why should you question that? It shows your ignorance as well as your prejudices.
IMAO!!! G Thomas, at least he CAN read a teleprompter. Bush couldnt even manage that. Take a trip through some youtube videos of your hero talking. This is an ex "businessman" who failed at EVERY business he ever tried but was investigated AT LEAST three times by the SEC for insider trading. Once? A mistake. Twice? A paperwork error. But THREE TIMES? And people like YOU voted TWICE for someone like this. And THEN what do you do? Now that we are getting out of both wars, jobs are being created, the largest terrorist threat our nation has ever faced has been killed, YOU are still backing the people who CAUSED the problem and trashing the ones who are fixing it.
Name calling (whats a demmie? is that inbred redneck for decent person?) Obammy (Nice switch Gay Thom ass) and PLEASE tell me what a presidunce is?
oh, and yeah, we know how the Repúblicans are letting minorities and women into government. Their answer to Hillary Clinton? Sarah Palin. This is a woman who, when running for the office of VP could not even describe her job duties when asked. Another one? Michelle Bachman who thinks dinosaurs lived 4000 years ago. YEY for equal rights!!!
Dumbass
JHall-1531516 lets see, pick a country in Africa and then switch up an old black joke (take ten of your friends to africa ). @!$%# if you are a racist at LEAST have the cojones to @!$%#ing be open about it.
Ronald Raygun was teleprompter king. Of course, he also had Alzheimer's probably from the beginning of his second term; so, all the words coming out of his mouth were from his puppeteers.
Yeah , Raygun had Alzheimers starting his second term and Nancy who was a closet Democrat did one hell of a job as president.
The RepubliCONS LIED to get elected in 2010 . . . Republican voters bought the lies about JOBS JOBS JOBS hook, line and sinker and the only job they got was a snow job . . . since then all it has been is brutal actions against the middle class and the poor and mo money mo money for the wealthy. . .
And they are lieing still !! Does anyone still believe the LIE that tax breaks for the wealthy and for business leaders creates jobs ???
what happened? Businesses FIRED employees, transferred jobs overseas, bought back stock, increased dividends to investors, sent more money to their overseas headquarters. Demanded that the IRS give them a tax holiday to bring SOME of the TRILLIONS they are hiding overseas, so they can again increase dividends, and invest in building MORE MANUFACTURING plants overseas.
That's why you have no problem with others feeling the pain. You can have a million now and a penny later.
What has Republipukes who ran in the mid terms on jobs done to create jobs. ZILCH!
Thats the repubs "I got mine, screw everybody else" attitude. Typical self-centered. egotistical greedy people.
Want to be selfish? Move to Somalia, perfect for d*mb*sses like you. No central government, no pesky taxes, no police to pay for, no roads to pay for, no teachers to pay for.....
Yoy'll love it, hell I'll pitch in for your ticket. But you gotta promise to take 10 of your friends with you.
LOL JHall . . . you have a great idea there . . . we will find an island that all the RepubliCONS, Tea Potty folks, and Various Right-Wing Nuts can live on . . . and to get them to go there we will tell them . . . no laws . . . no taxes . . . no teachers, firefighters, police, union workers, middle or lower classes, poor people, gays, lesbians, transgenders, people of color, artists, left wingers, journalists, atheists, commies . . . etc etc etc
AND . . . we will call this island TEXAS !! They can keep ALL their money too . . . it really isn't money any more any way . . .just numbers in a computer !!!!
They can be the selfish pigs they are and see how long they survive !
Brillant MsT! I reckon we'll have to build quite a big wall though. Hafta keep them pesky illegal Texans on their side of the border!
The President can do so much, when the GOP have been in office this long and has the minority and have been running from helping the President try and make jobs, now since they are campaigning they are bringing up jobs.
Rethuglicans have NOT been helping the President or the AMERICAN PEOPLE! They are BOUGHT and PAID FOR BY CORPORATE AMERICA.
Import tax on American goods into China is 22%, for imports from our country into India it is 40%. Our import tax on goods made in China or India 2%, 2 freaking percent! repthuglicans are traitors!
The Retinklers have been stalling, obfuscating, blathering, fillibustering, for 3 years. NOT ONE BILL introduced since November 2008 that has helped the middle class, poor, disabled, elderly. Everything has been for Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, the owner of Fixed News, and most importantly: THEMSELVES!!!!!!!
And do not forget the Koch Brothers. They are the ones who own some of the states already. And yes I mean own. Rpublicans sold their states constituency for a few dollars in contributions and who know what else. When you have that kind of power even your adultery gets covered up. That is why I do not trust a single republican. Well, maybe Mr. McCain. He seems to be different.
Pardon me....I don't usually use bad language, but the only thing the Republicans protect is the whore kissing, Vitter and not the poor and middle class of this country.
Exactly Chuck. Their absolute goal, which Mitch McConnell admitted to, is to make President Obama a 'one term' President by intenionally obstructing our recovery process (record 125 times) to regain political power at the expense of the American people. They are TRAITORS to this country and should be treated as such. I can't for the life of me understand how someone could vote these self serving pompus idiots into office.
Its simple John. Their preachers tell them that gay marraige and abortion is a much more important issue than anything else, including feeding their family and educating their children. Look, GW never served in the miltary (his service was a joke), and not only did he fail at every business he ever tried (including Texas, which is just now feeling the damage from his shinnagans, which PERRY hid for him), he was investigated three times for crimes. Then we are attacked by a member of the family he has done business with for 30 years, who he flew out of the country with no questioning, he lies about WMDs, which is STILL costing American lives and he was elected AGAIN, over a proven war leader and businessman.
Are you people really serious about gthomas being a PAID blogger? You have GOT to be kidding me. The man cannot even spell. Guys, listen. This is a man sitting back in some shack in the hills slugging back longnecks and listening to Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.
PAID BLOGGER!!! IMAO!!! Yeah, and lets ask Rosanne Barr to sing the Star Spangled Banner again. Come on guys. He is just a hatefilled inbred idiot. Just dont let him near an abortion clinic with a package.
Thats right Carlos. They take big campaign money from the church(GOP). I think they need to tax churches.Even Jesus paid taxes.
Why doesn't MEDIA point out the truth!
Tax cuts for the wealthy HAVE NEVER SPURRED OUR ECONOMY! Those GREEDY b*st*rds simply hoard the money. They are not "job creators", unless Communist China and India count, in my book they don't!
G. Thomas, your an idiot! The last republican to balance any budget was Eisenhower and the tax rate on rich folks was 91%. If you HAVE MORE you can pay more! And if we raised Tariffs(import taxes) on imported goods we wouldn't need to raise taxes on anyone! The jobs would come back here!
JHall. G. Thomas is a paid Talking Points spouter for the right, an instigator. Ignore him, please. He adds nothing to the conversation.
Cathy you are right. After reading his post, I could only pray for him. I believe the republicans just think we are all stupid. We know they just want a vote. They will give their soul to Satan before they be a Blessing to the people.
G. Thomas: everyone would like to keep their money. But You said we owe money to other countries, then it is not your money that you/we are keeping is it? If you owe it, and you are not paying it back, then you are stealing it, right? Well, we as people have a responsibility first toward our own domestic expenses and obligations and then toward the debt. In a house hold you pay the regular expenses like, utillities, food shelter etc. Then if you have left over you pay allowances to your children. Well, we are giving the allowances first to the rich. Is that even moral? People are already living, are you willing to say to those who expect us to help when they are down through no fault of their own, that this country cannot afford them? (they did not create the unemployment) Greed did that.
Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid should not be part of the US budget. They are a separate entity funded directly by US workers with funds taken out from our paychecks. This fund should NEVER have been messed with to deal with budget issues by our elected officials. They need to put back what they took out. SS shortfalls can be remedied by eliminating the ceiling of $80,000 on those who make more.
Question. Who really owns the US debt? The Fed? Who are they? We never hear anything about who these folks are. Supposedly they are owned by a group of private bankers. What banks? Why don't we as a country ever talk about our creditors? What about negotiating different terms? What is our interest rate? What are the terms we have now?
Well G. Thomas that is not what the Ryan plan does. So you go vote anyway you want and then run home and count your money. You will never be rich. You have no idea what being rich is even about! You You You!!! That is how I see you and I am not alone.
JHall, just a minor correction here, Nixon in his first term actually had a balanced budget. He lowered the debt by 3.0%, and as much as I dislike Nixon, I give credit for the 0.2% debt increase in Ford, because he held the office for most of that term.
G.Thomas........ Post #10.10
You feel that your hypothetical person deserves more then another person that worked just as hard, though maybe they hadn't had the oportunity to obtain a masters degree, and though their job was only a good hourly wage job. Their house wasn't as large or plush. They too may have two modest cars and have raised good honest children, now grown. They never made a large income but managed to save when they could. They find upon retiring that Medicare and Social Security are very essential to their very existence.
Now you think they should be the ones who are asked to forgo that security to pay for the excesses of others. For some it may mean you are asking them to give up needed medical care. Some might need to cut down on their food and or heating and cooling. How many will not servive a bad heat wave? Is that fair? You are saying... it is OK they do not get the benefits of the programs they paid into all their working lives. It is OK with you that they are penalized, because others wanted and demanded more and larger tax cuts ..... as they live a more lavish lifestyle. They didn't mind if Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security were dismantled in order for them to receive their tax breaks.
You know... Some have large incomes without ever having to work for it. The height of ones income does not nessitate the level of work or how deserving one is. No.... if you are one of the privileged class.... it is not unfair that you give of your surplus. Don't ask others, not so privileged, to give of their need. .... (from a Trust Fund they paid into all their working lives)...... Shame!
Sheryl, that was an excellent post, I might add that many of the highest income people really would never notice any difference in their financial condition without actually looking at the numbers. There would never come a day where they would go to buy a new yacht, and be told that they don't have enough to pay for it. Ditto private plane, ditto house, ditto car, ditto night on the town, ditto bottle of medicine, ditto bag of groceries. Meanwhile there are people who work hard every workday who could be told that they can't afford the medicine, or bag of food depending on if they got sick before or after they went to the grocery store. It is the people in this second group who will be needing a return on the money that they are being REQUIRED to invest in Social Security, and Medicare, and when that money is being taken from the funds, and given out as tax breaks it is stealing.
As far as the person you were replying to, I have her(?) on ignore since she(?) made a comment to me Monday night that I found to be vulgar.
The reason SS is part of the budget, is Congress borrowed (stole) from it to finance GW's fake wars and now they have to pay it back.
What is Mr. Boner thinking about, according to Ed, he just thinks about Obama Bashing. Not Jobs for the people....
Thankful Mom,
Thank you for the correct spelling of Mr. Boner's name. I'd like to know what he has done with women other that his wife. I don't even know if he is married.
I forgot her name, but when he was asked he ignored the question....In true Republican fashion.
What I wish Ed would do would be to get off the talking do-nothing repeating of everything the Republicans say and do and have Dems on the show actually speaking the truth and explaining what can and cannot be done. All of these shows do nothing more than show Repubs doing their little acts, which then reinforces them, rather than the Dems. You would think MSNBC would get it, but they don't. Now, we're hearing about Weiner again. Who cares? Who cares what Darrel Issa says? Great, now we're finally getting around to Vitter. Let's all ask them to have Vitter resign. It's about frigging time. Get a backbone Dems, and especially the Dem leadership. Thank god for Debbie Wassermann-Schultz who has now replaced Tim Kaine, who did nothing. We need to get behind our congressmen, write letters, write the WH, the DNCC. The Republicans have no morals at all. They hide behind their pseudo-religious talking points and care nothing for this country, or the people in it. The only thing they care about is their jobs.
They want to cut back on so many other people. What about cutting their jobs and positions as congressmen or woman. Really they are a waste of money.
The Repubs. already gave their objective from the beginning. "to make sure Obama fails". And hasn't their behaviour shown that that is on what they are spending their time? First, they were the party of no. Now they are the party of lets privatize everything. What do you think they are planing? To create another crash and let the corporations keep our taxes. We will not get anything unless we are their share holders.
Thankful Mom that is why we are struggling in the job market. I did not need Ed to tell me that. Most people didn't. The GOP has done nothing to help our country. They should be removed from office. They have not even done their jobs for the people that elected them. A lot of those people see that and will not vote for the licks again!! But there are always the brainwashed that just can't see the light!! People like G. Thomas!!
Theres....Boners alleged affair was with lobbyist, Lisbeth Lyons. When asked by a report about it, boner ignored the question.
ED!! Now thats what I'm talking about! Enough about Weiner and more about the Republican Machine that only cares about the Super Rich. Your on fire tonight..Keep it up!
Ed, I am glad you are DONE with Weiner's new, so I am back to listen to you.
Also, I am very happy that Media is finally catching up with GOP's strategy.
That has been their SOLE reason for saying no, no & no all along.
It is their "brilliant" plan against Obama.
They are using this idiotic & stupid plan at the expense of citizens to gain the presidency...
CALL THEM OUT on a daily basis....CALL THEM OUT, not just in rhetorics, but with facts...CALL THEM OUT
Come on President Obama, you have nothing to lose. Go for it as many will support you!
It seems you heard what we've been saying, so now you're screaming about the Republicans. Why haven't you been doing that all week, instead of attacking one of the few Democrats that was in Washington helping Democrats fight against people like Boehner? Maybe you're only attacking Republicans now because you don't want to get thrown off the air again. After what you did this week it's clear that this new attack on the Republicans is all show/act to keep your job. You don't care about the people or Liberal policies, you care about your job. Why don't you just go over to Fox and take Glenn Beck's job he screams like a mad man and accomplishes nothing that helps the people, you'd fit right in.
If back to normal is continuing to attack Weiner and asking people to fight the good fight for free while he rakes in millions then I don't want to see abnormal. And if it's "grown-up" to kick a man when he's down and jump on a bandwagon that all the other pundits are on you must have loved high school and bullying. But I am here to talk about jobs and ending the 3 wars. Why couldn't Ed talk about the fact that Leon Panetta said today that there are 1000 al qaeda in Iraq, and he doesn't want to troops to leave? I think that's a lot more important than whether some hack Democrat who doesn't care about the will of the people decides she wants to get some fame by attacking Anthony Weiner. Someone who fought to pass the ACA and talked about it when the President couldn't be bothered to, and was one of the main guys pushing to get the money for the 9/11 first responders, but I guess that's not grown up enough for you and I'm "bitching" when I ask so called reporters to report on the issues. Know your facts or shut up. I wonder if Ed is giving you any money out of his huge check for defending him, if not why are you doing it? He's not fighting for the middle class by attacking Weiner, and Weiner fights for the middle class everyday what he does in his personal life, IS PERSONAL!
Someone like Ed, with an integrity like his, does not attack anyone. But as a journalist researcher, he points out boths points of view. His guests belong to both sides. But he also has a conscience. And this is good for a journalist to have because his input is from the human perspective. Republicans, however, care about their families, their friends and their party, but they have shown not to care about the people, young or old, or poor. They show not to care about anything or anyone. Look how Breitbart thinks he did some good in destroying Mr. Weiner by gossiping about his escapades. This was not good for the country.
Whene ever you can Google: The Burning Of Care Ritual at the Bohemian Grove Club. Eisenhower and Kennedy warn us about these secret societies. Ask yourself: What does that ritual mean? That they want to care or that they do NOT want to care. That is called conditioning thenselves not to care about anything else except their accomplishing their agenda.
It's about time somebody raised this issue. The President ought to submit a jobs bill for infrastructure re-building and green energy. He ought to take it to the republicans and have them go on record voting it down. this is absurd to have allowed those right wing extremists set the agenda on debt reduction and starving the beast.
The President ought to submit a jobs bill for infrastructure re-building and green energy. YES!!!! And let the REPUBLICANS in the HOUSE vote in lock step- NO, NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!
Right they need to overwhelm the floor with policies and let them vote no,no,no to them so everyone can see . Sooner or later the trance will be broken from whatever hypnosis they hold over the middle class that think they are on their side.
The president does not submit bills, he suggest and appoints people to submit a bill with his programs. The bill goes to both houses and the president passes it if it is what he asked for. It is up to the congress to appoint funds for it and the congress's agenda has been to "make sure the president fails". So, no one wins.
We have to take advantage of this election in 2012 and get there leaders who are willing to implement the presidents programs. And it is very tricky because Republicans are infiltrating by getting themselves elected as Democrats and then voting with Republicans in the congress and Senate. It is already happening in some states like Wisconsin.
Well then you have to follow the money. If the Democrat gets alot of campaign money from the same sources as most republicans dont vote for him. If he does get elected and becomes a turn coat then recall his his/her ass.
Sadly the Constitution places the power to originate bills for raising revenue in the House of Representatives. On the other hand the Senate can pass a 'concurrent' bill if the House Democrats can get a bill introduced in the first place.
Absolutely so!!! WTG ED!! You back on fired up! Thats good to see!
Yes it's time, (past time rather) that something be done to shut the
republicons down! GGGOOOO ED!!!! :)
Of course. But there's only so much he can do. The President and Democrats need to be better media maipulators to counter Fox so that they can take back the House and control the other two branches. The god damn Republicans have been worse than an anchor on progress and whaterve it takes to get them out of power of any kind should be done.
The Republicans gripe about President Obama only creating 54,000 jobs last month. At least some people got jobs and with luck he will create a whole lot more jobs this month.
YES!!! President Obama needs to stand up and fight strong for the Amreican middle class and poor people and not allow the Republicans to continue to do NOTHING but complain and stall on everything. America needs a government that will EARN their pay instead of acting like 10 year olds!
Yes I agree our President is for the poor and middle class PLEASE FIGHT FOR US
I have relocated to Antarctica and Iraq for work as well as moving through NM, TX, CA and VA late last year and now in NC and looking forward to where the next job takes me. I am only a pipefitter and not a trucker or such.
